Greenfield Environmental Solutions Case Study

In April 2023, we worked with Greenfield Environmental Solutions to collect before/after installation data on our product. Field testing was conducted at a randomly selected location without prior knowledge of current emission rates or historical maintenance issues. For the leak rate & quantification portion of this study, every effort was made to isolate a single bolt-hole leak during the data collection process. Prior to flange installation, Greenfield measured leak rates ranging from ~3.4 grams/hour at low tank pressures to ~10.4 grams/hour at higher tank pressures. Over the course of three 14-minute tests with varying tank pressures, the average leak rate from a single bolt-hole leak was 6.7 grams/hour. If left unaddressed, it is estimated that a leak rate of 6.7 grams/hour would lead to .059 tons of methane being emitted over the course of a year. Following the installation of our flange between the thief hatch & production tank, three additional 14-minute tests were conducted. Greenfield’s post-installation testing confirmed that our product provides an effective seal, leading to a 100% reduction in through bolt & base gasket emissions.
